Tips for PowerPoint
5 Elements of a Great Power Point
- What you need for a great Power Point is that your theme should match your topic. Example: If your Power Point is on hockey that would mean choose a theme that is closely related to hockey. So, that was the first characteristic of a excellent Power Point Presentation.
- Another characteristic of a excellent Power Point Presentation is have pictures so your audience stays attracted to your presentation. Example: If you have a Power Point Presentation on cats have some pictures of cats in your presentation.
- Another great characteristic of a great Power Point Presentation is proper font and appropriate font size.
- You need transitions that fit in with your presentation and don't disrupt your presentation
- You need accurate and well written information otherwise your presentation wouldn't make sense
5 Elements of a Terrible Power Point Presentation
- Bad Grammar ruins a Power Point Presentation
- An Irrelevant theme ruins a Power Point Presentation, like the one below they are talking about Chilean Exports and have a photo of mountains in the background
- A Power Point Presentation that has been plagiarised is not a good presentation
- A presentation that looks like there hasn't been much work put into it is a bad presentation

Connected, but Alone?
Summary of the TED Talk
The TED talk that was watched by my IT class was about how texting is making us feel connected but we really aren't. Like, how Mrs.Turkle pointed out texting may connect us virtually but it does not connect us physically, emotionally and/or mentally. I agree with this because I have noticed that whenever I go to my cousin's house he doesn't respond to what I say right away because he is on his phone. It takes a person who is texting about 15 seconds to respond to a question or a formative conversation. This is my theory and is based on my experiences.
Do you agree that technology changes who we are? Why or why not? Explain whether these changes are positive or negative.
I think that technology changes who we are because we get lost in the virtual world and as I have pointed out before it changes the way we have conversations. It also affects us in a good way because we can text people who are in other countries and communicate with them. In my words, I think technology has a bigger negative effect than a positive one because it changes how we humans are supposed to work in a society with other humans.
What does "Alone Together" mean to you?
"Alone Together" to me means to be physically present in front of each other but not emotionally. You are not emotionally inclined to that person but rather you are sitting/standing with your phone in your hand and texting.
Do you think you are the same person when you text/email/comment that you are in “real life”? Why or why not? Explain.
I do not have a phone so I cannot text and I have never sent an email. Maybe, that is why I feel inclined to my theory that texting disrupts the social environment that we humans made over a period of thousand's of years.
Would you rather text than talk in a conversation?
Obviously, I would talk because I would rather make eye contact with that person rather than look at what they are "writing" in a text.
Do you agree that technology is a form of companionship?
In my opinion, it is not a companion because when we are in awkward situations we grab our phone out of our pocket and it all becomes not awkward. Truly, that is not how it works. I do not have a phone and whenever someone is talking to me I tend to listen to them better. If you talk to a phone, well you are not going to get a well thought out reply like you would from a human.
My 2 deep-thinking questions
My 1st question is that "If we didn't have texting but still had every other feature of a phone would we still be this neglectful of other humans?". My final question is that "Do we as humans feel that we are ushering into a new age of no social understanding or knowledge?".

Sixth Sense Technology
Who
Pranav Mistry is a computer scientist and/or inventor. He went to MIT. He works with Samsung and is the vice president of research at Samsung. He invented SixthSense. He was born in Palanpur, Gujarat, India on 14th May 1981. He is now 33 years old.
What
He is talking about new technology called SixthSense technology. Which is like having a digital eye. It connects the digital world with the physical world and vice versa.
When
This TED talk takes place on November 2009. He started thinking about or working on the SixthSense device in 2000.
Where
It takes place in India. At, TED Talk India. He gave the conference about SixthSense Technology and what it does/how it works.
Why
Pranav Mistry made SixthSense technology so we could make connections between the digital and the physical world. " It will actually help us not end up being machines sitting in front of other machines" says Pranav Mistry.
How
He uses the Sixth Sense Technology by using the camera and a projector. The projector projects the images while the camera catches your gestures.
How the video relates to IT 8
This video relates to IT 8 because it teaches us how we can connect the digital world and the physical world together. Also, it shows that the physical world and digital world are not all that different and how we can use modern technology to aid us in the physical world.
What I found Interesting
I found the taking photos with your hands option very interesting because we have only imagined doing that but with SixthSense Technology we can make that happen. Another option that I found interesting was the looking at your flight information by just looking at your ticket. Such as looking at your ticket and it will tell you the delay time.
